We each make our own relationship with Deity, and each grow and love in our own way. It is said that if you ask a room full of thirteen witches a question, you'll get twenty-five different answers. And it's true.

That said, mine is a spiritual path, a way of seeing the world and Divinity, and our relationship to it. It is a very simple ethical principle. It is a way of life. And it is a way of tuning into the shifting energies of life around us and tapping into those energies to make the world a better place; this is what we mean by magic.

I believe that Deity/Goddess is imminent in the world around us. Divinity permeates every living thing. . .and most of us define rocks, soil, water, air, fire, and the planet Herself as living things. Just look with an open heart at a dew-filled spider web or a lacework of bare winter branches covered with ice crystals, and you'll see what we mean. The Goddess is IN there. She's in each one of us, too.

The Goddess is often identified with the Moon: mysterious, and ever changing.
Many witches see the Goddess as three-fold: Maiden, Mother and Crone. The Crone is the figure most often identified with witches in popular culture, as the warty old hag who flies on her broomstick and harasses Dorothy, Snow White, and trick-or-treaters. Witches see Her as a grandmotherly figure of great wisdom and compassion, who sometimes challenges us to grow by tweaking our fears, and who helps us face death when the time comes. The Mother is the nourishing aspect who births, feeds, supports, and loves us. The Maiden is the playful curious aspect who encourages us to explore our world with joy.

I follow the phases of the Moon and time my work according to how its purpose harmonises with Her phases. I also tune into the energies of Nature around me and make a conscious effort to live, work, and play in harmony with them. I, and many others call this "going with the flow." We learn that there are times when action is appropriate, and times when we would better spend our time in reflection. There are times when we can build and accomplish much, and times when we can let go of habits we no longer need. Everything we do is a little more powerful when we harness the natural flows around us rather than fighting them.

And this leads into a discussion of magic. Life itself is magic: the cycles of birth and death, the processes of healing. Witches learn to nudge these natural processes by applying focus and will.

Beyond these processes of living well, yes, we practice the application of will to accomplish our wishes. We know from the outset that if we will something that will harm another, the chance of our work being successful are reduced. If what we wish is in harmony with Divine Will, our magic is simply a demonstration of our willingness to work within that Plan. We apply our focused will to the purpose we have in mind, at a time and in a way conducive to harnessing the energies of Nature that support our purpose, and then we let Divine Will determine the outcome for the highest good of all.

"An it harm none, do as ye will."

I seemy time on this Earth as an opportunity to grow, heal, learn, make amends for past mistakes, and allow my soul to evolve. In the process, I meditate, pray, sing, and create art, music, poetry and prose. I love my family and friends. I take great joy in the beauty of the world around mes and in making the parts of it I live in beautiful and healthy. I make it a goal to interact with my world in a loving respectful way, and forgive myself when I fall short. I help others, and I grow.

Seeking the Soul of a Garden

Dig, dig, digging deep. New roots need soft soil and plenty of room to stretch out in. You never know which way they'll spread or just how far. I have so many questions. And I come here dig, dig, digging for answers.

Deep within each of us lies a garden. An intensely personal place, this landscape grows from a rich blend of ingredients - imagination, memory, character, and dreams. - that combine in wonderful ways in our innermost selves.

I leave the old weeds and grass in, turning them under so they may add their nutrients to the soil where more desired plants will grow. A very big sacrifice to ask, but I know it is the way of the Goddes, it is what I have learned on Her path.

Throughout most of our lives, this garden remains hidden from view save for brief glimpses during moments spent daydreaming or in quiet contemplation.

I think of what will be planted here, determined not to repeat the old mistakes of careless planting. This time I want to get it right. I have the the knowledge and the resources. I just need to apply them. I'm free to create the garden of my dreams.

Our garden represents a personal paradise - a beautiful place designed specifically to capture the most positive and refreshing memories; a place that is both a sanctuary from everyday life and a place of rejuvenation; a place available to you at all times.

Designing a garden is a journey of discovery . . .you will open yourself up to the world within and around you, finding meaning in heightened feelings and perceptions, and long lost memories.

I call to the Mother Herself and I give thanks. I give my thanks for the beauty and blessings you have bestowed upon this little piece of garden that I tend. I have come to dig, dig, and in digging deep I find the treasure of me. Rita was an exceptionally talented dancer, and her performances embodied a combination of strength and sensitivity that set her apart from other screen sirens, and made her just as popular with female audiences. From her persona, it is hard to believe that the real Rita was a very shy woman with great insecurities. She was a much better actress than the critics ever acknowledged. It is a credit to her abilities that she was able to play characters like "Gilda" so flawlessly that the world thought of the person and the image as one in the same. Rita brightened America during World War II with her dancing in musicals like Cover Girl, and displayed her evolving acting talents in films like The Loves of Carmen and Miss Sadie Thompson. Starring in movies for nearly four decades, she became one of the all-time great Hollywood legends.

Privacy of My Path

Secrecy is nothing new to witches. Get a small basket and place in it offerings to the faeries such as candles, ground ginger, clover (only the three leaf), thyme, barley, foxglove, primrose, roses, and moss. Tie the basket with bright colored ribbons for an added affect. Be sure to replace the items often, as the faeries use that which is inside and leave the outer shell of the objects. Oak Hawthorne, and Ash Trees are among the best natural places to find faeries.
Outside of your faery garden look in these natural settings. Note: you can also use lavender or thyme

Caesar Salad Dressing Mix

Ingredients:
1 1/2 teaspoons dried lemon peel or zest
1/4 teaspoon garlic granules
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon crushed dried oregano
1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese

Mix all ingredients in a small bowl. Place in a snack size plastic resealable bag or a small jar. Will store for about 3 months. Makes one serving.

Instructions:
Combine the mix, 1/2 cup vegetable or olive oil,and 1/4 cup wine vinegar. Whisk or shake until well blended. Chill til serving time. Notes: I did not add salt to this, but you could add a small amount. It makes a nice gift with a small whisk, a bottle of olive oil and wine vinegar.

The Closer

The Closer is the best show on TV. It's the one I have to be home for and the one I stay up late for. Smart, sophisticated, this one hooked me from the beginning. Watch it once and you'll find out why.

Kyra Sedgwick kicks ass as Brenda Johnson. This is one Sourthern Belle that's more than a "kitten with a whip" this kitten has claws and she knows how to use them.

The Closer is awesome!!! This is what TV should be all about as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather have more shows like this than the so called "reality shows" that are all over TV now.

Always Begin At The Beginning

The time is 7:43 am cst. About 40 minutes before I have to be at work. The weather here in the Heartland is HOT! Very hot. And will get even hotter by the middle of the week.

This is my first journey into the world of blogging. I have read many blogs and enjoyed most of them. Reading them has made me want to jump right in and try it. I hope that I can be just as creative and interesting as those that I read. It might take me a couple of times of just writing about nothing until I find my voice. Just bear with me through these first forays into the world of blogging.
